The rollout of the European Rail Traffic Management System (ERTMS) requires more than innovative technology. It demands close collaboration, transparency and trust between all partners involved.
To support this challenge, ProRail partnered with Businessgames to develop ‘ASAP Unleashed!’. It’s an interactive Serious Game that transforms a complex innovation programme into an engaging learning experience. Rather than learning through presentations, participants discover how every innovation contributes to the successful rollout of ERTMS.

The experience begins at an interactive innovation market. Guided by an intelligent chatbot, participants explore a series of market stalls, each showcasing a different innovation that supports the ERTMS programme. As teams gather knowledge, they earn valuable points and unlock advantages for the final challenge. Every conversation and every insight strengthens their position later in the game.
During the endgame, participants put their newly acquired knowledge into practice. Teams select different innovations to solve realistic ERTMS challenges and overcome obstacles that delay implementation. Every decision affects the speed of the rollout, the available budget and the final result. The most successful teams combine the right innovations, collaborate effectively and make smart strategic choices. Their reward? They turn back the clock, accelerate the rollout and save the highest costs.
By the end of the experience, participants understand the value of every innovation and every partner involved in the programme. They discover that successful implementation depends on open collaboration, shared knowledge and collective ownership. The result is an engaging Serious Game that inspires collaboration and creates a shared commitment to delivering ERTMS faster.
