Stepping into the ring for innovation

The strongest ideas rarely emerge in isolation. Innovation grows when people challenge assumptions, build on each other’s thinking and explore new perspectives together. To encourage this creative mindset, Perfetti van Melle partnered with Businessgames to develop an energetic Serious Game about innovation. Inspired by the atmosphere of a boxing arena, participants entered the challenge ready to think differently, question existing ideas and discover new opportunities. And they all did it while dressed in a hand-made boxing outfit!

Build on every idea

Working in rotating teams, participants tackled a series of creative challenges centred around key themes within the organisation. Every round invited them to expand on the work of previous teams, transforming individual ideas into stronger collective solutions.

Large interactive puzzle pieces replaced traditional flip charts, creating a visual representation of the innovation process. Participants first explored thought-provoking questions, then generated new ideas before refining and prioritising the most promising concepts.

By continuously building on one another’s contributions, every team helped shape a bigger picture. Collaboration, creativity and constructive feedback became the driving forces behind the experience.

From ideas to action

The Serious Game concluded with an inspiring finale where teams presented their strongest concepts to the wider group and to a jury. The experience demonstrated that innovation is not about finding one brilliant idea. It is about creating an environment where ideas evolve through collaboration.

Participants left with fresh perspectives, stronger connections and practical concepts that could inspire future initiatives within the organisation. The result was an engaging innovation experience that transformed brainstorming into meaningful action.
